The Health Service Executive says the medical assessment unit at Roscommon County Hospital will remain closed for the next two weeks.
The warfarin unit which treats patients with blood conditions has also been closed temporarily until the 6th of August.
In a statement to Shannonside News the HSE says this is part of the normal seasonal arrangements, when Consultants are on holidays and activity during the summer months is very low.
The HSE says that during this period, no appointments are scheduled for the Outpatient Department, Warfarin Clinic and Medical Assessment Unit.
It's understood patients who usually use these facilities have been attending their GP's in Roscommon.
Speaking on today’s Lets Talk Fianna Fail Councillor Paddy Kilduff says as far as he is aware GP's were not told of this situation, which he says is unacceptable.
