Roscommon claimed a 10 point victory over Sligo in Dr Hyde Park to move top of All-Ireland championship group three.
Davy Burke’s side put in an impressive second-half performance to see off Sligo by 1-21 to 1-11.
Roscommon led by two at half-time, eight points to six. The Rossies points coming from Diarmuid Murtagh 0-3 (2f), Cian McKeon, Enda Smith 0-2, Ben O’Carroll and Colin Walsh.
The hosts added six points after the break, but Sligo weren’t willing to lie down. Roscommon's scores coming from Enda Smith, Murtagh, McKeon 0-2 and Dylan Ruane. Alan Reilly driving the ball home for a 49th minute Sligo goal.
Roscommon responded strongly, with back-to-back points from Diarmuid Murtagh (free) and Enda Smith.
14 minutes later Dylan Ruane collected a quickly-taken free and hammered a shot to the Sligo net, making it 1-16 to 1-9.
Donie Smith’s point made it 1-17 to 1-9 with five minutes of normal time remaining. Smith, Murtagh (2) and Niall Murphy but the gloss on the scoreboard as Roscommon won 1-21 to 1-11.
The victory moves Davy Burke’s men to the top of the All-Ireland championship group three on three points.
Burke’s side have three points as do Dublin, Roscommon have a better score difference of +10 to +9. Sligo and Kildare have one point each after two rounds.
Roscommon meet Kildare in the final round of group games with Dublin meeting Sligo. Those games are set for Sunday June 18. As things stand a win for Sligo and Kildare would see the group come down to score difference.
