The Boyle Library Project is to benefit from a major funding top up from the Department of Rural and Community Development.
The new community facility is being built at the rear of Royal Hotel site, recently opened as the new exhibition and enterprise hub 'An Ríga'
1.2 million euro was announced for the project on top of the original funding of 4.3 million euro.
The Council states that the project will tie in with existing large-scale Rural Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF) investment in the town.
Announcing the top up this morning, Local TD Frank Feighan says the town is going from strength to strength thanks to the recent investment:
'I think this project along with the Royal Hotel and An Riga project means over 10 million euro is coming into Boyle.
I'm delighted that this will transform the old Royal Hotel Building but also a new purpose built library.
This auger well for the regeneration of towns such as this. What we need next in Boyle is a hotel.
I hope in the coming months we will have people express an interest in a new hotel for the town.'
