Intensive Care units around the country are treating people as young as 17 years old who are sick with Covid-19.
402 people are currently in hospital with the virus, 73 of whom are in intensive care.
Over 50 people are being treated with Covid-19 at local hospitals according to the latest data from the HSE.
The highest number of patients receiving care for the virus are at Sligo University hospital and the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar where 15 people each respectively are Covid positive.
12 people at Cavan Hospital and nine people at the Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore are also in care with four people at Portiuncula Hospital receiving treatment for the virus.
12 people are receiving Covid care at Cavan University hospital.
Overall, 12 people are in ICUs in local hospitals in the Shannonside region - including fur in Tullamore Hospital and three in Mullingar as well as a further three people in ICU in Cavan.
The age of patients in ICU, in a recent surge of Covid admissions, ranges from 17 to 88 years old.
The Department of Health says 70 percent of patients in ICU have not been fully vaccinated.
