The number of patients in local hospitals with confirmed cases of Covid-19 has doubled in the last week.
There are currently 131 covid positive patients in Hospitals in the Shannonside Northern Sound region.
16 people are also receiving treatment in ICUs locally as of this morning, a part of the national figure of 74 in critical care units.
The figure has almost doubled in the last seven days from 68 this day last week, to 131 today.
UHG is the worst hit in the region and the second worst nationawide with 37 patients currently receiving treatment who have the disease, up 25 on last week.
That's followed by both the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar and Our Lady's Hospital, Drogheda with 22 covid positve patients in each facility.
Sligo University Hospital currently has 18 patients in it's Covid Wards compared to 5 last week, while Cavan General Hospital is dealing with 14 confirmed cases.
Tullamore Hospital and Portiuncula Hosptail in Ballinalsoe share the joint lowest figure in the region with 9 patients each on site with confirmed cases of the virus.
Nationally, The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisations says ICU beds are like 'gold dust' currently, with just 12 beds available across the country.
