Fourteen children presented as homeless to Roscommon County Council between July and September. They came to the local authority with their families, looking for emergency accommodation. According to the council's management report for September, 13 families presented as homeless to the local authority in the third quarter of this year. They include 14 adults and 14 children. One of the families involved one adult and four children.
This new report also reveals there are 336 people on the council's social housing waiting list, as of the end of last month. 46 people were offered council homes between July and September - with only six of them turning down the offer. Many people in Roscommon are getting financial assistance from the state with their rent - with 329 households on the Rental Accommodation Scheme and 363 getting the Housing Assistance Payment.
