14 schools from across the Shannonside region will be represented at this years BT young scientist and technology exhibition.
Climate change, road safety and the energy crisis are among the themes emerging from the 37 local projects which have reached the final.
The Exhibition is back in-person at the RDS in Dublin for the first time since 2020, with the last two editions being held remotely.
Roscommon Community College, Abbey Community College, Castlerea Community School, Scoil Mhuire, and Scoil Muire gan Smal represent Roscommon. Leitrim's Mohill community School, St Clare's comprehensive Carrick on Shannon community school are taking part. In Longford Lanesboro Community College and Ardscoil Phadraig have all made it to the final Athlone community College, Marist College, Our Lady's Bower have been selected from Westmeath.
It officially opens tomorrow, but it won't be open to the public until Thursday.
Head of the Exhibition, Marie Cahalane, says there is a wide variety of subject matters being addressed
"The themes are around what the students are interested in the here and now. So, climate change, sustainability, thing like that. Not as much about covid. What we've found is the subject matter that the students are talking about are things that they're really interested in so if they're interested in sport or any other hobby, that's what they're talking about".
