Over 140 vacant houses in the Shannonside region have been restored and repaired as part of a government initiative for the provision of social housing.
As part of the 2020 Voids Stimulus Programme, 2,565 vacant homes have been refurbished and brought back into use across the country by the end of last year.
The scheme provided local authorities nationwide with over 56 million euro to repair and refurbish housing stock for use as social housing.
Longford saw the highest level of refurbishments locally with 71 homes brought into use as part of the programme.
While Roscommon and Leitrim County Councils finished work on 44 and 27 homes respectively.
Nationally the majority of refurbished homes have been allocated to people on the housing list and those experiencing homelessness.
