An extra 16 car parking spaces are to be provided in Mohill as part of a new
streetscape plan for the town.
Locals in the south Leitrim area have been given extra time to assess
modifications to the plan following a decision by local councillors this
morning.
At today's meeting of the Carrick-on-Shannon M.D, a report from the Council
Chief Executive highlighted a number of modifications to the plan which it
is hoped will address concerns over parking and traffic.
Councillor Thomas Mulligan explained that it was unfortunate that the plans
for the town had emerged at the same time as the pandemic which had left the
public feeling that they didn't have an opportunity to analyze discuss the
plans in detail.
He proposed any decision should be deferred until locals could study the
modifications proposed by the CE's report.
However, Councillor Des Guickian claimed that the entire town of Mohill was
against the project and said it was a city view and the architect's plan
caters for a much warmer climate than Ireland's .
The meeting agreed to defer the approval decision until December 14th and
Councillor Mulligan says the decision to defer was the right one.
