The number of cornonavirus cases in the world has now topped 17 million. It’s now been exactly six months since the World Health Organisation

The number of cornonavirus cases in the world has now topped 17 million.

It’s now been exactly six months since the World Health Organisation declared the pandemic a global health emergency.

Latest figures show there are now over 17 million cases worldwide.

The United States still has the highest number in the world and recorded a death every minute yesterday.

Brazil is the second worst affected country.

Here at home we reported our first case on February 29th, we are now at almost 26 thousand cases here while 1,764 people have lost their lives.

Hopes now lie with a vaccine with Russia claiming it will have one next month.

Professor Luke O’Neill from Trinity College is cautious about these claims.

Elsewhere Poland and Japan has reported record cases while Australia has also seen a spike.

A reminder that this is far from over.
