A new Garda Superintendent has been appointed to Roscommon this week.
Superintendent John Fitzgerald has been assigned to Roscommon Garda Station as part of the latest allocations by An Garda Síochána.
Superintendent Fitzgerald will have responsibility for the Roscommon Community Engagement Functional Area.
He joined An Garda Síochána in 1998 and has served at several stations since, including Fitzgibbon St, Tallaght, the Crime Task Force at Crumlin and the Organised Crime Unit at National Bureau of Criminal Investigation,Pearse Street, Liaison and Protection Section where he led the Europol National Unit.
He also served at Naas and Kildare Districts from where he was promoted to Superintendent.
In Galway, Superintendent Finbarr Phillpott has been assigned to Ballinasloe Garda Station with responsibility for the Galway East Community Engagement Functional Area.
Both began their new roles this week
