Almost 200 property owners across Leitrim and Roscommon have responded to a call from their local authority offering a vacant home to Ukrainian refugees.
The Offer a Home Initiative launched in November 2022 and has continued since.
Under the initiative a total of 80 properties have been offered to Roscommon County Council, 62 of these were inspected and deemed suitable under the Scheme.
15 of these homes were withdrawn while a further 3 were unsuitable, some due to the need of improvement works.
Currently 149 Ukrainian nationals are being accommodating in 49 homes across Roscommon under the offer a home scheme.
In Leitrim 35 homes were pledged in 2022 while a further 75 properties have been pledged so far this year.
Of the 108 homes offered, 18 have subsequently been withdrawn by the homeowner.
A tax-free recognition payment of €800 per month is available for properties used to house those arriving from Ukraine. This is an increased payment rate applying from December 1st 2022.
