Over 200 schoolchildren had to be sent home from school this morning and several businesses in Ballymahon have been badly affected by a water outage.
That's according to local councillor Paul Ross who says Irish Water have failed badly in their communication process on the interruption.
The Fine Gael councillor says some councillors had been sent e-mails about a planned outage in the south Longford area on Sunday night but many had ended up in the spam e-mail sections.
Councillor Ross says another notice was sent out yesterday afternoon changing the times, and many businesses and households found themselves without water again this morning.
The Fine Gael councillor says Irish Water have to drastically improve their communications in order that business and schools aren't so badly disrupted.
