Over 20,000 ESB customers across the Shannonside region are still affected by power outages. Storm Éowyn has caused significant disruption to electricity and water supply, with electricity for some homes without power for at least another week.
ESB crews are active across the region as they attempt to return power to thousands of homes and businesses in Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon. Major faults have now been repaired leaving hundreds of individual faults across the three counties from broken lines to blown transformers.
Approximately 9,000 people across Roscommon are still dealing with power outages, with over 1,000 out in Castlerea, 1,000 out in Boyle and 500 hundred out in French park. Over 800 outages are being tackled in Athlone and wider south roscommon area while Roscommon Town is seeing close to 500 faults between the town and outskirts.
Several thousand people in Longford are in a similar situation with 2,000 people without power in the Lanesboro area, 1,000 out in South Longford and close to 1,500 out in the north of the county. 500 people in Longford town remain without electricity while 600 properties in the Ardagh area are out with power expected back with resumption set for early next week.
Leitrim is also seeing hundreds of faults affecting dozens of customers each. 700 homes are out of electricity in Mohill with another 700 in Rooskey, 500 premises are affected in Ballinamore and 500 in Drumshanbo.
400 homes and businesses in Carrick on Shannon and 350 in Leitrim Village are also out as of this morning. Power resumption time across the region is estimated from the next 48 hours in some areas to mid next week in some rural areas.
Power has been restored to a number of water treatment plants in the region, with generators installed at sites that still do not have power. Urban areas are expected to see their water supply return fully by this evening. Uisce Eireann has provided water supplies at locations across the region, see our website for details.
