A man has died after a crash in County Mayo last night.
Emergency services attended the scene of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the N60 at Carrowntober near Balla shortly before 11pm.
The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
The road is currently closed and the scene is being preserved for examination.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
It brings to 137 the number of people who have died on Irish roads this year - up two on the same period in 2023.
