23 people have died as a result of work related accidents involving a vehicle in the Shannonside Northern Sound Region over a 10 year period according to new figures.
In a report released by the Health and Safety Authority, new data reveals that 217 people lost their lives in work place accidents involving a vehicle between 2009 and 2019 across the country.
The report shows that the majority of fatalities took place in the agricultural sector, with construction workplace accidents also placing high on the list.
Over a ten year time frame 6 people dies in each of Roscommon, Cavan and Monaghan in work place accidents involving vehicles.
While in Leitrim, 5 people lost their lives across the decade.
Longford was the only county in the region that did not record a work place death involving a vehicle.
The new report from the HSA shows that almost half of work place fatalities in the period were connected with a vehicle.
