Over 2,300 parking fines were issued in the Shannonside Northern Sound region over the course of the pandemic.
New data shows the penalties were issued between March 2020 and April 2021, with 168,000 tickets sent out nationally.
Over 6 and a half million euro in fines were dished out to the public in the 12 months of the pandemic, with the Shannonside Northern Sound area accounting for just a small part of the figure according to the Irish Independent.
Fines can range from €40 to €150 depending on the severity of the breach of parking regulations.
Longford recorded the highest level of fines locally with 1,050 fines issued over the year.
Monaghan is next, where 662 fines were issued to motorists between March last year and April of this year.
That's followed closely by Cavan, where 618 people received parking tickets.
Meanwhile, both Roscommon and Leitrim have recorded no parking tickets over the last 12 months.
Roscommon currently has countywide free parking in effect, while Leitrim County Council waived all fees during the course of the pandemic in order to support local businesses.
Unsurprisingly Dublin recorded the most fines issued with over 45,000 notices sent to motorists.
