There will be 24/7 security at refugee accommodation in Castlerea, according to the Department of Integration.
Up to 52 International Protection applicants are expected to be housed at the Riverwalk apartment complex in the coming weeks.
The initial contract with the accommodation providers for the centre is for a two-year period.
The Department had indicated that 13 families were due to be accommodated at the apartments last month but none have so far arrived.
The site has been the scene of a number of protests in recent months while local public representatives have called on Government to provide additional supports for the town.
