271 new cases of Covid-19 detected nationally

There are 271 new cases of Covid-19 in the Republic.

It's the second lowest daily tally this year.

77 patients are in hospital with the virus - with 27 in intensive care.

Meanwhile, Public health officials are investigating 37 outbreaks of Covid-19 in workplaces in the Mid-West region, including Limerick.

They involve 128 cases and about 270 close contacts.

Public Health Mid-West says a small number of outbreaks have led to the temporary closure of local businesses.
