Just over 3,000 homes and business around Ballinasloe will be able to pre-order high-speed broadband in the area soon.
That's according to Independent Deputy Denis Naughten who says that National Broadband Ireland is currently finishing construction of its fibre-optic broadband network in the rural areas either side of Ballinasloe.
The areas include Ballydangan, Creagh, Moore, Clonfad, Kilconnell, Ahascragh, and Kiltormer.
Around 700 of the 3,000 premises have the network to their door fully built and those who have broadband ordered in the area will start to see the fibre installed in their homes from the beginning of next month.
Deputy Naughten says the vast majority of connections to homes will be from the nearest Eir telephone pole and it's important that homeowners make sure they can connect by ensuring that there are no trees blocking the route, and that any ducts are free of dirt and debris.
