3,600 free legal aid certs were granted through courts in the Shannonside region in the first 9 months of the year.
The certs grant legal representation such as solicitors or barristers to those who cannot afford it during civil or criminal cases.
The 3,598 certs from the 1st of January to the 9th of September were allocated through courts in Longford, Leitrim, Cavan, Roscommon and Monaghan.
In the case of civil matters, free legal aid is decided by the Legal Aid Board, with applicants required to pass a merit and means test for the support.
While those seeking the cert in criminal cases, the decision is granted by the presiding judge during the first stages of the hearings.
Court Services in County Cavan recorded the largest allocation of legal aid certs in the first 9 months of the year with 1,190 granted to those before the court.
These included 888 at Cavan Court House and 302 at the Court House in Virginia.
Monaghan was close behind with 1,155 applications approved between Monaghan Town and Carrickmacross.
651 certs were granted during cases at Longford Court House in the same period, just ahead of Roscommon at 417.
County Roscommon has four court houses currently in operation, with Roscommon Town and Castlerea seeing the highest amount of successful free legal aid applications.
Carrick on Shannon Court Services in Leitrim processed the fewest locally with 185 certs provided to those before the court.
