Longford District Court saw the highest number of people convicted for the possession of drugs in the first five months of the year.
Freedom of Information figures released by the courts service to Shannonside FM reveal 40 people were found guilty of drug possession at courts across Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon.
[26 people were convicted at Longford District Court for the possession of drugs between January 1st and May 31st 2022.
That’s the highest figure in the Shannonside region.
In Roscommon a total of 10 people were found guilty of drug possession during the same period.
This included four at Roscommon court, three at Castlerea and one at Ballaghaderreen.
No convictions in relation to the possession of an illegal substance were brought forward at Strokestown or Manorhamilton district courts during the first five months of the year.
While four people were convicted at Carrick-on-Shannon for the offence.
