Just over 40% of general election candidates from across the Shannonside region are female.
The deadline for final nominations was at 12 noon today.
A total of 48 local candidates will be vying for a seat in the Dáil, as the election date of November 29th approaches.
Longford-Westmeath has the highest amount of candidates than any other constituency in the region, at 20, nine of which are women.
Meanwhile, in the Sligo-Leitrim constituency, 17 are running in the elections this year, which include seven female candidates.
11 candidates are running in the Roscommon-Galway constituency, among which four are women.
Of the total figure of confirmed general election candidates, 20 are female and 28 are male.
Female candidates account for 41.6% of the final confirmed nominations across the three constituencies.
Those selected have until Monday at 12 noon to withdraw their candidacy.
