A girl and a woman are seriously injured after a suspected stabbing in Dublin City Centre.
Three other people, including two other children, have also been injured.
All five injured people have been taken to different hospitals across Dublin, including Children's Health Ireland at Crumlin and the Mater Hospital.
It is understood that a man in his 50s arrived and first attacked a woman, before injuring the children.
He also sustained injuries and is now been treated in hospital, where Gardaí are waiting to speak to him.
Gardaí say they are following a definite line of inquiry and are not looking for any other person at this time.
Gardaí have ruled out a terror related motive at this time.
Garda Commissioner Drew Harris says it appears as though members of the public intervened in this incident in Dublin.
He was due to meet with the Policing Authority in Waterford, but was interrupted by the news from the capital:
The Education Minister says the National Educational Psychological Service is providing support to the school community.
