50 applications for the Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant were approved in quarter 2 of this year in the Shannonside region.
It comes as new figures show that approximately 8 vacant or derelict properties have been brought back into use by local councils so far
The Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant is a payment available to those are turning a vacant house or building into a permanent home or a rental property.
A grant of up to €50,000 is available.
According to the latest release from the Department of Housing, no grants were issued locally in Quarter 2 of this year however 50 applications were approved.
Roscommon had the most applications approved at 23 while Leitrim had 20.
Longford had the lowest number of approvals at 7.
Figures provided to Newstalk also show that around 8 derelict or vacant properties have been brought back into use by local councils.
Roscommon County Council have brough 2 properties into use while Longford Council have refurbished 6.
The figures for Leitrim were not available.
Nationally, over 1000 applications for the refurbishment grant were made in quarter 2 of this year, with 506 of them approved, and 3 grants issued.
