57% of all false alarm calls responded to by Leitrim County Council's fires service last year were deemed as 'malicious'.
According to data released by the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government fifteen of the 35 false alarm incidents were deemed 'good intent'.
The figures are among the highest in the country, with just a handful of malicious false alarm calls reported in other local authorities in the Shannonside Northern Sound region.
In Cavan, a total of six malicious false alarms were reported out of 62 overall while in Longford the figure was just two bogus calls.
In Roscommon, four malicious calls were made to fire services who attended a false alarm incident and none were recorded in Monaghan.
The report also reveals that fire services in Longford were the busiest in the region - responding to 201 fires last year.
The figure was 151 in Roscommon, which also included 11 call-outs to other local authorities, and 139 in Monaghan, 130 in Cavan and 104 in Leitrim - including 20% of all call-outs to assist neighbouring fire services.
