Fianna Fail won the popular vote

More than 60 seats across the country have been filled as counting continues in the general election.

Fianna Fáil is on track to be the largest party in the next Dáil.

Nine constituencies have finished counting entirely. Whereas, others are bedding in for a long day and in some cases a couple of days.

The one all eyes are on is Dublin Central where Gerry the Monk Hutch is ahead of Labour's Marie Sherlock for the fourth seat at the moment.

However, the gap though has narrowed from more than 2000 votes to less than 124. The elimination of Fianna Fáil outgoing Senator Mary Fitzpatrick that decides that one.

When you delve into the numbers it looks as though Fine Gael and Fianna Fail won't be far away from returning to power without the need for a third party.
