The Sixth Infantry Battalion based in Custume Barracks in Athlone will celebrate it's centenary this month.
The unit was first established on the 24th of January 1923 as part of the first attempts to organise the newly established national army.
To mark the centenary the battalion will conduct a formal parade in Custume Barracks on 24th January at 11:30am.
The parade will not be open to the public but past and present members of the battalion will be in attendance.
