A vest of chain mail, believed to be over 800 years old, has been donated to a Longford tourist attraction.
The hauberk, which resembles a vest and which made out of woven metal, was discovered at an unknown location in County Longford and was handed over to the staff at the Granard Knight's and Conquests centre this week.
The owner of the chain mail handed over the item following a special Norman People event in Granard last week.
Manager Bartle D'arcy has been in contact with the National Museum in order to declare the historical artefact, and to begin the process of its restoration and preservation.
