Over 90 notices of terminations were to issued to tenants across the Shannonside region in the last 3 months of 2022
Figures released by the Residential Tenancies Board show Leitrim had the lowest number of notices issued nationally.
Notices of termination are issued by landlords when they wish to end a tenancy.
In order for a notice to be valid, it must be given in writing to the tenant and also given to the RTB, and must also state the reason for termination and the notice period before the property must be vacated.
The notice period depends on how long a tenant has been living in the property, with tenancies under 6 months long requiring a minimum of 90 days notice while tenancies over 8 years require 224 days notice.
New figures published by the RTB show that 93 notices of termination were issued across the Shannonside region at the end of last year.
39 of these were issued in Roscommon, the most in the region.
This is followed by Longford with 36 notices and Leitrim with 18, the lowest number nationally.
The main reason for termination of these tenancies was the landlord wanting to sell the property.
Nationally, over 4,000 notices of termination were issued to renters across all counties
