A Leitrim TD is raising concerns over the lack of IDA supported jobs in the county.
Deputy Marian Harkin says it's shocking that Leitrim has lost over 100 backed IDA jobs in the last 11 years, a decrease of almost 10 percent.
Figures released by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment reveal the Foreign Direct Investment Agency made no in-person visit to Leitrim in quarters one and two of this year.
The Independent representative believes a greater focus must now be put on the Northwest County and she's calling for the IDA to come to Leitrim each quarter going forward.
According to Deputy Harkin the region boasts a good road network and an educated workforce and she feels any increase to the creation of jobs would be beneficial.
"I do believe needs to be a real focus on the county, because I checked all of the figures while some counties have had very small increases with job numbers, but I could not find a county with none except for Leitrim so this is why I am calling on a greater focus and to redress the drift and the loss of jobs in Leitrim."
