A Longford woman is hoping to raise funds for a charity run centre in Dublin where her son is living with a special walk later this month.
Pauline Doran whose son Joe has Huntingtons is living at the Bloomfield Centre in Rathfarnham in Dublin since 2020.
Pauline says she wasn't able to care for Joe, who's in his early 50's, at home anymore, and the centre in Dublin has given the family great peace of mind.
She's organising a 5 km walk at Lough Key Forest Park on Saturday the 23rd of this month at 10.45am.
All money raised will go to the Bloomfield Centre which operates as a charity.
Pauline says Joe has settled in well at the centre over the past months and she and her family are doing all they can to help enhance life for residents there…
" He is up in Bloomfield in Rathfarnham, he is well cared for as their specialised staff. They have 24 beds and its the only unit in all of Ireland. We got together my family and myself and we got a big polytunnel that everyone could use with raised beds. My sister got a basket ball and a hoop for them and anything we can we will try and supply."
