A number of issues have been identified in a Longford nursing home.
HIQA's latest report follows an unannounced inspection of Our Lady's Manor Nursing Home in May of this year.
Our Lady’s Manor Nursing Home is located on the Dublin Road in Edgeworthstown, Co. Longford.
The home provides 24 hour nursing care for older persons with physical or intellectual disabilities.
Upon entering the premises, the HIQA inspectors noticed a pleasant atmosphere, with well-dressed residents content with their surroundings and having positive interactions with the staff.
On the day of inspection, residents were also taking part in group activities, which included music and fitness.
Some issues were identified, however, in the upkeeping of the nursing home, with scuffed doors and wooden surfaces, as well as damaged paintwork outlined by the report.
In addition, inspectors noticed damp patches in the ceiling of one resident's bedroom.
Residents also revealed that they were unhappy with the lack of breakfast choice and that the food was not always hot.
Some residents were located in a twin bedroom and shared one television, which did not ensure that each resident had choice of television viewing and listening.
An external fire exit route was also deemed to be unsafe by the HIQA report, due to uneven ground and an unkempt area.
Overall, the nursing home was described as clean and there were adequate arrangements in place for residents to access their general practitioner when requested.
The nursing home received 8 full compliances, 7 substantial compliances, and 5 non-compliances from the inspectors.
