A Roscommon social entrepreneur is hopeful a new plan for rural Ireland recently launched by government will learn from previous mistakes of rural-centric schemes.
Shane Cogan launched Rethinking Rural Ireland last October in an effort to assist rural communities by regrouping, rebranding and relaunching through a wide variety of innovation projects.
The Ballagdhereen man believes that the Covid pandemic has allowed communities to reassess and develop proposals to enhance and improve their local areas and the government plan should assist in their efforts.
He is hopeful for the wider government plan but he told Shannonside FM's The Bottom Line he can understand why people may be sceptical:
