Residents of a Longford village have lodged an appeal against planning permission granted by Longford County Council for a telecommunications mast.
The plan was greenlit by local planners for a 24 Metre high communications structure at Coolamber in Lisryan.
The application was submitted by Eircom ltd and granted with 8 conditions attached.
The development was subject of a number of public submissions on issues of the health effects of the electromagnetic signals from the tower, including DNA and neurological damage.
According to the World Health Organisation, telecommunication masts do not emit harmful levels of electro-magnetic radiation.
An appeal has now been lodged with the Higher Planning Authority over the mast by Abbeylara and Lismacaffrey Rural Development.
An Bord Pleanála will make their decision in February.
