The organisers of the Abbott Longford marathon have announced it won't be going ahead as a in-person event for the second year due to Covid.
The annual event has become a big fixture in the autumn calendar for many runners and has attracted several hundred people to the town each year.
A virtual marathon is to take place however and that will help raise much needed funds for St Christopher's services in the town.
The virtual marathon will take place for the month of September and people are being asked to run whatever distance suits them at a location of their choice during that month.
Registration for it is now open and all runners will get a specially commissioned 2021 finishers medal by post.
PRO Fiona Fenelon says they're naturally disappointed at not being able to welcome hundreds of people back to the town this year.
