The provision of high speed Internet in rural Roscommon has taken a step forward this week.
Contractors working with the National Broadband Plan have completed engineering survey works for over 1,000 premises in the Gurteen deployment area, which also includes Ballaghadereen and Edmondstown.
The survey works include the erection of poles and the unblocking and readying of ducts for the fibre cables to be installed.
According to the NBI, 8,400 homes and businesses in Roscommon have been connected to broadband so far.
