A Fianna Fail senator insists the accommodation of Ukrainian refugees is not the main reason for a shortage of hotel beds in Dublin.
Senator Eugene Murphy's described how he has had to spend nights in his car, due to the pressure on hotels.
Senator Murphy says there has been an increase in demand from business people and tourists in the capital.
Some of it is linked to the unfortunate war in Ukraine, there are people here but I don't want to blame those people and it would be wrong to blame them. But it would appear from the research I've done that there are a lot of people definitely booking into hotels, in terms of tourists and in terms of business people from abroad coming into Dublin doing business and you engage with people in the hotel and you find out that most of them are people actually engaging in business or tourists.
