An addiction support service for people affected by drug or alcohol addiction has officially expanded into the south Leitrim area this week.
The Rossinver Youth Project was set up initially to help provide essential services for a rural community and now offers a range of addiction services.
Some of the clients of the service are referred by GP's but many also approach the service after hearing of it through other avenues.
Extra funding has now been sanctioned to allow the service expand into Ballinamore and south Leitrim.
Damien Daly who's an Outreach Worker with the service says they're very happy to be able to offer their help to more people in the county.
''We've been delivering a service for 5 years in North Leitrim and our family support service has been delivered there for 3 years. More funding became available through the Department of Health and regional drug and alcohol taskforce to expand into the rest of the county and specifically to cover south Leitrim which hasn't been covered previously.''
