Additional beds have been opened at Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore due to increased pressure on staff and resources. The hospital confirmed the move in a statement to Shannonside News earlier today. It comes as trolley figures continue to surge across the region with 62 patients waiting for a bed as of this morning. Management at the Midland Regional Hospital have appealed to patients with non-emergency conditions to seek assistance from other parts of the health service.
In its statement, it apologised for any inconvenience caused and thanked the public for their support and understanding. Hospitals across the country are experiencing significant pressure today with 535 patients waiting on trolleys. The worst-affected hospital nationally is University Hospital Limerick with 97 patients waiting for a bed. Meanwhile, Sligo University Hospital is the busiest facility locally, where 26 patients were waiting on trolleys this morning.
