Roscommon-Galway TD Claire Kerrane has confirmed that additional Gardaí resources for Ballaghaderreen will remain for as long as they are needed. The Sinn Féin TD says she has been engaging with the Garda Superintendent and is arranging a meeting with him in the town. Over 430 people attended a demonstration in the town at the start of November, after a teenager was allegedly assaulted.
Extra Garda resources were deployed last week but Deputy Kerrane now says they will not be removed after a short period of time. On a visit to Castlerea last week, Sinn Féin Leader Mary Lou McDonald said her party would open new Garda stations in Co. Roscommon.
