The Aerlingus pilots pay dispute is set to continue, after IALPA failed to make a decision on the Labour Court recommendations.
The association's executive met yesterday to consider the proposed 17-point 75 percent wage rise, and increase to the overnight allowance.
While it had been expected the Irish Airlines Pilots’ Association would recommend their members accept the proposals from the Labour Court, they proved some commentators wrong when they failed to reach a decision yesterday.
There were a number of aspect of the deal that they have written to the court for clarification on. This sets back the timeline for any resolution, as IALPA will now await a response from the Labour Court before meeting again to consider the proposals.
If they decide to recommend their members accept they will then hold approximately 5 days of meetings, in an effort to consult every pilot concerned. After that comes an electronic ballot which runs over three days - and only then might there be a resolution.
The work to rule will stay in place until an agreement is reached, so it looks like Aerlingus customers will still be checking their flight details and keeping fingers crossed for another few days.
