An Afghan man who is now living in Ballaghadereen is thanking Ireland for giving him refuge from the Taliban.
Iqbal Nasari and his family were forced to flee Kabul in late August because of their brothers work with UK special forces.
An Irish friend of the family sought assistance from Alliance Party MP Stephen Farry who in turn worked with the Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney to bring the Nasaris to Roscommon.
They are currently living at the EROC centre in Ballaghadereen with some family members attending the local school.
While Iqbal says the centre provides a number of services, he now hopes to get a job and find a permanent home.
"The main thing that we are waiting for is our permanent house here in Ireland so we will know our permanent location and we can plan everything from there. We have a good life inside, they provide some good facilities in there ( EROC) but for our mental health we will get stressed if we are left here for a long time."
