Agreement in principle has finally been reached for a new site for St Teresa's Special School in Ballinasloe.
The saga of a new school for children with special needs has been ongoing now for several years after the project was delayed when a deal on a previous site didn't work.
St Teresa's caters for children with special needs from parts of Galway and Roscommon and it's been granted extra temporary accommodation in recent times.
The new site cover four acres at Parkmore, Creagh, but funding still has to be secured to build a new school.
Local Senator Eugene Murphy it's a very positive step but more work needs to be done to secure the fund.
