AIB's plans to remove cash based services at four regional branches will cause severe disruption to local Post Offices.
That's according to Leitrim community activist Maureen Martin who says locals are horrified by AIB's decision.
70 branches around the country are set to go coin free as the bank aims to move more services online, including Ballinamore, Longford, Castlerea and Ballinasloe.
The bank's partnership with An Post will be expanded, so that customers can lodge and withdraw money from their account through their local post offices,
However this is leading to major concerns over the capacity of rural post offices in dealing with the new customer and financial demands.
Speaking to Let's Talk today, Maureen says many post office customers will see huge delays if it goes through:
We have a very very small post office here in Ballinamore, a very busy post office.
I went in on Friday afternoon to buy buy stamps and i was 45 minutes queuing
If they then take on the AIB business as the bank is saying it'll do, we need a larger premises and more staff.
Absolutely no reason for AIB to be closing down the ATM.
They're still going to be in town, the machine will still be there, all they have to do is stuff it with money.
This is just greed and profiteering
