Air Ambulance returns to Athlone after four months following hangar repair works

The aircraft and crew were originally due back in Athlone at the end of January but their stay in Dublin was extended due to a delay in the works.

The Air Ambulance has returned to it's hanger at Custume Barracks in Athlone following repair works to the facility. The emergency service had been relocated to Baldonnell Aerodrome during the last four months as works were underway. The aircraft and crew were originally due back in Athlone at the end of January but their stay in Dublin was extended due to a delay in the works.

Roscommon Galway Sinn Fein TD Claire Kerrane said the air ambulance's location in Athlone is strategically vital and allowed the service to rapidly respond to emergencies across the region. Deputy Kerrane says there are still concerns surrounding the staffing of the service:
