Douglas Drive homes have an 'A' energy rating, including air to water pump heating systems

It's estimated that the opening of Roscommon County Council's newest housing development in Roscommon town will reduce the waiting list in the area by 60 per cent.

Douglas Drive is a mix of 53 two and three bedroomed homes which have an 'A' energy rating, including air to water pump heating systems.

Twenty eight houses at the northern end of the site at the Walk are almost complete with the remaining 25 units accessed through Cluain Fraoigh to be finished in coming weeks

Housing body Tuath will manage the properties for 25 years, after which they will be returned to the local authority's housing stock.

Conor Fallon Senior Executive Engineer with Roscommon County Council says the allocation process is currently underway.
