Almost 10,000 people were on the live register in the Shannonside region in December
The number represents a reduction on the same time 12 months ago.
The Live register records the number of people registering for Jobseekers Benefit, Jobseekers allowance or any other entitlements at offices of the Department of Social Protection.
According to the latest CSO figures, 9,895 people in the Shannonside region were on the live register in December 2023.
This is a decrease on the 2022 figure of 10,345.
Westmeath is the county with the most people on the live register at 4,065
This is followed by Longford at 2,059 and and Roscommon at 2,007.
Leitrim had the lowest number of people on the live register in the country at 1,764.
The county with the highest number of people registered for Jobseekers Benefit and Jobseekers allowance in December was Dublin. with 42,250.
