Close to 1,000 people accessed the services of Mayo Roscommon Hospice in 2021.
That's according to the foundation's CEO Martina Jennings who says palliative care in Ireland has changed considerably in recent years.
48 percent of those using the Mayo/Roscommon hospice services are now non cancer, with an increase in motor neurone and COPD patients.

Due to Covid-19 the organisation saw increased demand for its therapy and counselling sessions.
The charity's CEO says despite a difficult year due the HSE cyber attack, its service never dropped.
