Almost 150 children in the north-west are on waiting lists to be seen by specialist mental health teams for Leitrim and Sligo.
Figures released at the most recent HSE health forum to Councillor Declan Bree reveals that 15 children have been waiting for appointments with the CAMHS team in the region for between nine and 12 months.
One child is also waiting between 12 and 15 months for an appointment. and the majority of children- eighty-eight- are waiting for up to three months for an assessment.
The HSE has also confirmed work is ongoing to reduce the waiting times, and a process to establish an Early Intervention Youth Mental Health Service is underway in the region.
A Senior Psychologist was recruited last month with a Clinical Nurse Specialist due to begin work next week and another role is to be filled later this year.
